Once a dark and dated condominium with limited natural light, this renovation reimagined the home as a bright, relaxed retreat inspired by contemporary coastal living. The existing layout was constrained by an awkward staircase that terminated directly into the living room and a bulky fireplace that disrupted both circulation and furniture placement.
To improve flow and functionality, the fireplace was removed and the staircase reconfigured into a cleaner, more intuitive circulation path. These architectural changes opened the living area, creating a more cohesive and flexible space for everyday living and entertaining.
The kitchen was completely demolished and rebuilt to better support the client's lifestyle. A custom built-in banquette provides a comfortable gathering space while maximizing seating within the home's compact footprint.
Throughout the residence, a palette of crisp white walls and light white oak flooring establishes a bright and airy atmosphere. The herringbone floor pattern introduces subtle architectural interest and craftsmanship, while reinforcing the home's refined coastal character. The result is a fresh, modern interior that feels both sophisticated and effortlessly relaxed—a dramatic transformation from the dark, compartmentalized space that existed before.
